Hello everyone, the aim of this blog is to demonstrate the process of adding an Apple device to ABM using an iPhone or iPad. Previously, I wrote a blog about various methods for onboarding Apple devices to ABM and how to add Apple devices to ABM using Apple Configurator on a MacBook.
If you want to add devices using an iPhone, you're in a fortunate position! With Apple Configurator, you can easily add iPhones, iPads, and Macs directly from your preferred iOS device.
Note : Once more, you must reset any previously configured device before attempting to include it in ABM. Follow the usual procedure: back up your data, disable Find My, log out of iCloud, and reset the device before proceeding with the next steps.Step 1: To begin, download Apple Configurator from the App Store and open it. Then, tap on "Continue" to proceed with setting up Apple Configurator.
Step 2: Please log in with an account that has the necessary privileges to add a device to ABM. Once you enter the correct account, click on "Continue," provide the password, and complete the two-factor authentication verification. After this process is finished, the account will be successfully signed in.
Note : The Managed Apple ID account needs to have one of the following roles in Apple Business Manager, Apple Business Essentials, or Apple School Manager: Device Enrollment Manager, Administrator, or Site Manager (Apple School Manager).
Step 3: Once signed in you can view the organization details, choose the Wi-Fi profile or share the one your device is currently connected to (a network connection is required on the device you are adding in order to communicate with ABM). You can also specify the MDM server to which the device should be assigned. If you wish to do this later, tap on "None"; select "Default" to retain the default setting or choose "Specific" to specify the MDM server.
Step 4: Hold your iPhone near the iPhone or iPad with Apple Configurator, and then choose one of the following options:
Scan the image displayed in the Setup Assistant.
Select the option "Tap Pair Manually" located in the bottom left corner of the Setup Assistant. Next, choose "Manual Pairing" in Apple Configurator and input the six-digit code displayed.
After finishing, a notification will appear on the device stating "iPhone Added." Tap on "Erase" to begin the enrollment process.
Once the setup is finished, sign in to Apple Business Manager to confirm the addition of the device. Subsequently, you can locate the device using its serial number, where the source will be displayed as "Apple Configurator".
